Last night I updated Power Schedule to version 2.1. I listened to people who complained about the new User Interface. Yes, now that I look at it, it was poorly designed. But somehow I missed this because I got used to it (while working on it).
Anyhow, I hope you like the new one. It’s much more clean and intuitive. I also added a “reboot” event – for Power Users who rooted their phones. You can set up a reboot each night, to have a “clean” phone in the morning (for example).
I plan to add a lot of other features as well – some suggested by users.
Many thanks go to these people (in no particular order):
They helped me fix some issues and contributed with some ideas (or translations). I will also add their names (with their permission) in the About page (inside the App).
Looking forward to the next version
As you know I’ve been away for a few days – so the release date for Power Schedule 2 was shifted a bit. I’m also quite busy at work – so I don’t have the energy to work on it after I get home :(.
I made some progress last Sunday – I still have to write a help file, some hints, and design new High resolution icons. But the overall functionality is done 🙂
Thanks to all who “liked” Power Schedule on Facebook. Now you can find the official page at http://www.facebook.com/powerschedule. Check it for upcoming news and discussions.
I’m working hard for version 2 (which was basically rewritten), however I made this minor update (1.4), due to users complaining “Data Connection” doesn’t work on Gingerbread devices (see this article to understand why: Google is destroying Android). Basically, in 1.4 you will get a warning message when trying to access the Data Connection menu, with a link to the open issue at Google. Please star it to support developers (not just myself) – and not let Google create a(nother) precedent.
I looked into the Market stats, and I see the top 5 languages (in the Android Market) for Power Schedule users are:
– English (US & UK)
So… I would need some help translating it to these 4 languages (for now). Does anyone have a few minutes to help me out? I don’t want to use Google Translate – it’s not good enough yet 🙂
Thank you all in advance.
I uploaded a new version this morning (1.3.4). This changes the default values for some schedule types, and also applies these default values at the first startup (not the case for users which already have Power Schedule installed).
This was the cause some users reported the app is not working – they saw the default values in the schedule and didn’t change them. This in fact didn’t apply them at all 🙁
Sorry for that.
It should be solved now. I just want to mention that if the app is not working for you, please contact me first (before submitting a negative comment or rating), and I’ll try to fix / answer your questions.
Thank you all.
I’m finally back, after a long 3000 km watch-the-laptop drive in Europe. The results? I can’t comment on that (company policy). But I’m just glad it’s over.
So now I’ll have some time for the promised update (now that Power Schedule surpassed 1000 downloads – YAY!).
You can check back from time to time for updates – or easier, follow me on Twitter :).
HTC is busy these days at Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona. They just launched their first tablet and a series of new smartphones… some which feature a dedicated “Facebook” key. I’m sure people waste too much time on existing devices with Sense, until they get to open Facebook. Therefore, the need for a special key. 🙂

On a side note, Power Schedule has reached 500 downloads – not so bad for my first app (but these Market stats update so slowly – c’mon Google). Anyhow, I plan to release an update these days (1.2) – it’s mainly some UI improvements, to make it more intuitive for new users. If anyone can help with translations in other languages, I would appreciate it. Just drop me a message.
I just uploaded a fixed version – I got 2 crash reports from two users. It seems some Androids have different permission requirements – for example for setting the WiFi mode. So I had to add this one, and also the phone state permission. The 2nd one was my fault: it crashed when disabling all 4 schedule items (on, off, both for weekdays and weekends). Sorry for that 😐
So hit your update button in market and please allow the new permissions.
